Our Buick Enclave which is the same chassis and powertrain is only rated for 4500lbs towing and 6500 GVWR. Where did you read that a GM Lambda series vehicle had the best mpg towing 5000lbs +?

If I want to tow that much, I have a F-350 in the driveway.

I just need to tow my 800 pound camper and gear around.

Looking back at it, I think my best bet might be to just buy a new AC compressor for the Cherokee, get the AC system professionally filled and hope it works. And fix some of the rust issues (frame) and potentially regear it. Wouldn't take much money to get it to fit my needs better.

I'm still on the lookout for a GV or something

Except for that one that looks like it was T-boned on the passenger side, LOL.

yeah but it's 1/2 the price!

I still think a minivan is hands down the best vehicle for dog owners. It also tows very well and fuel economy is decent. The sienna is one of the best vehicles for snow as well, even in the fwd models. I have the awd model and top of the line, it is amazing. Only cost me 3.2k$

Sounds like a good idea. You've had that Cherokee a long time, so you know it well and know where things stand mechanically. Any cheaper used vehicle is going to need at least a little more work than originally expected, so unless the current one is a no windows or carpet trail rig, it's a better starting place than unknown.

I got as far as buying a faceplate. But I sold it a few weeks ago. In trying to work out a deal for a VERY rusty 00 5 speed. Park them next to each other in the garage and start swapping.

Well there's no carpet. It has had the a.c. compressor removed since January so it may be no good.

Is your flex plate cracked or are the bolts loose? The flex plate bolts are known to loosen up over time, until they get so loose that the flex plate eventually cracks from the vibration.

Usually if they knock just a little bit you can catch it in time and thread them back in with some blue loctite to prevent them from backing out again.

This problem is hit or miss, some have loose bolts with 90k miles, others have 250k with no issues.

If you pull the inspection plate on the bottom/front of the bell housing, you can rotate the engine with a breaker bar until you can see each bolt and tighten them that way. I believe the bolts are 1/2".
