Ford Marine Starter - Pic

i had never seen a starter like this, and thought it was a joke at first. Looks like they put the starter drive on backwards.
Just wanted to share the info.

Y-block starters look like that. I put a starter in a thunderbird several years ago that looked the same.

On many inboards, the starter is installed pinion gear forward, opposite of most vehicles. The you get standard and reverse rotation to add confusion Not sure about the Fords though.
