Fixing a leaking P-trap

I just changed out our chrome plated zinc traps under our kitchen sink with plastic ones from the depot. One of the traps got a pinhole in it after 40 years of service.

The plastic went back nicely and no leaks yet! Plus cheap...

I’ve used plastic for years now. The metal traps and fittings are the poorest quality and the nuts crack with too much pressure.

Don’t overthink it.

Thinking about this thread again.

I finally ordered it. I got one of each of the brass nuts - chrome-plated and unplated. I think a new washer might be the right thing, and my local hardware store has it pretty cheap.
