Ever plugged a tire yourself?

Several with about half my own - once plugged a guy’s tire after pulling him out of a mud hole - he used an old pier board - wrong side up … 😵‍💫

Plugged my first tire the other week. Had a nail on the inner edge of my Genesis' RR tire that Discount Tire wouldn't patch. I don't blame them.

Was going to be $300 for a new tire not including a road hazard warranty, and it's just a Yokohama so nothing fancy. Decided to give a plug a try and see what happens. No leaks yet.

I've plugged all kinds of tires. Can't do it in a 80 psi tire though, oddly enough a rifle casing holds air just fine. The only one that I can think of that failed is in my Jeep right now, but that's easily a 10 year old plug in a 15 or 20 year old tire. Can't complain.

Van has 2 in the back passenger side tire right now, my truck has one in the back driver side. Didn’t even have to take the tires off to do them. The hardest part is reaming the hole.

Plugged a inside rear tire on a dually this morning. About ten minutes max. The nail pulled from the tire can be seen in the picture with a red label background.

I no longer trust/count on others to do a service to standard. I will be buying additional kits and keep the kit in all my vehicles.

We had a jerk construction guy driving a pickup truck with the tail gate open and a 5 gallon uncovered bucket of nails bouncing out of the bed. I guess ~ 10 up us got nails from that. Fortunately someone took a picture. A big argument with the main Forman followed and we all got either new tires (unpatchable) or a proper tire off rim patch. What is wrong with these jerks? ed

I’ve done maybe 20-30 or so over the years. Never had a problem with a plug. I’ve had two in one tire.
But I plug it and go about my business.

When I got new tires, I kept one of my old ones that had the best tread. 500 miles into new tires hit a pothole, pin sized hole in sidewall. Knew they didn’t have my tire size in stock, put do-nut on next morning, went to town fair tire, had them put old tire (with plug) on rim so I could drive on regular size tire instead of do-nut for 3 days while they ordered tire. Had new tire put on, old tire put back in shed in case ever need

I've done more than I wanted to, especially when working on job sites where new construction was going on.
