Yes, a lot of hand ringing, but I was doing 10K back in the 70's with engines(Chevy and Dodge) that had carburetors. Also in the 80's I had two Fords(Escort Wagon and Tempo) with the 2.0 Diesels and used reg M1 10-30 for 300K. 10K OCIs are my normal.
07-09 Camry’s with the 2AZ were affected by oil consumption issues due to a ring issue. Toyota has a warranty extension to 10/150k under campaign ZE7. This engine design is vulnerable to oil consumption issues so long service intervals (which increases the likelihood of deposits) are not a good idea. And in the event that you need to seek coverage for oil consumpotion, extended oil change intervals are not in your favor.

A gnat walking on velvet?
car51, I have to agree with TLR here. Even at the least, ST full synthetic is cheaper than any name brand conventional. And, everyone and everything will be happy; you, your engine, and the talented gnat.

Castrol Edge 5W-30 is Dexos 1, Gen 2 per their website. So is Mobil 1 and Valvoline 5W-30.
I should have clarified. I meant a Dexos1 Gen2 oil within the recommended grades, which are 5w20 and 0w20.
