I mean you're coming into to pick up a pizza and there's a tip jar with singles, sometimes twenties in it. Seems a bit awkward. One place rings a bell and all the employees yell THANK YOU!


Maybe that $20 was starter tip money. I think if the jar is empty, people are less likely to tip. I've never really seen an empty one, there's usually a small amount in it to guilt people into throwing something in.

I knew a sketchy guy in college who would take money out of the tip jar at the coat check while their back was turned and then when they turned around, he'd put the money into the tip jar so they'd think he tipped them when he didn't.
