Do they determine a certain "brand" manufacturer of oil? Obviously the drivetrain sways viscosity.

Meet the vehicle specs for the oil and avoid buying the oil at a Dollar Store.

My friend always does that. Buys that goldstar stuff at the dollar store that's not api certified. I'll have to ask if he still does that. He's never had a car that didn't drink oil though. Drives me nuts
Mass produced drivetrains cannot be that restrictive and still be viable for mass production.
