Our FJ lets us know about dry starts. The timing chain rattles when a filter drains. My wife mentioned that she heard it a few days ago.

Its been 2 hrs since she parked it. I removed the oil filter and found it completly empty. Less than 2500 miles on this filter.

Replaced it with an orange can. Can't be any worse.

I been using Denso filters for a few years, my stash is from 2019. It seems the new filters are not as good as the older stuff.

It’s good that you caught a bad filter. I don’t use Denso filters myself, but thought from what I read on Bitog that they are a very solid choice. Doubt you have any damage from this.

I'm going to say black adbv here is nitrile with 99% confidence. Topic China made Denso First Time Fit (FTF) filter has been burn tested* and tested as nitrile. That despite what Denso FTF site info still shows. The silicone adbv info on site comes from when FTF filter had orange adbv and before made in China. Note, topic is not a Toyota Thai Denso OEM. Reads like topic filter adbv compromised.
