The Davidians were still a victim of their own stupidity more than anything though.
They were exercising their 1A and 2A rights. There was effectively no valid evidence of any other crimes of note. And the state did previously investigate allegations of abuses. The worst being a couple of harsh corporal punishment examples.

law enforcement could've made better choices at various points.
Yeah, like starting with minding their own business. They MURDERED over 75 people.

Never, NEVER forget that the government works for us, not the other way around. WE the people are not subserviant to government.

Yet on nonsense allegations, a literal army of armed government agents with an unlimited budget showed up, initiated a gunfight, killed Davidians, and then apparently burned them down. Because some kids got hard spankings. To "save them."

The Feds screwed up big time. That doesn't warrant the cult shooting at them. It doesn't make the cult members any less stupid for believing they came there for the sole purpose of killing them either. They were victims of their own stupidity and nothing more.

Please post that infrared video of the Feds starting the fire. Considering that was 51 days after the confrontation started, that's a pretty silly excuse for not surrendering.
Lol @ "the cult shooting at the feds"....you serious, Clark?

How can you say this today. The Feds have thrown people in jail without bail for misdemeanors. They are holding them indefinitely without court hearings or attorney visits to this day. And Congress doesn't seem able to do anything about it. You have no rights anymore so steer clear of the Feds and LE.
Please elaborate how you are supposed to "steer clear" of law enforcement when they are coming to arrest you? You have 2 choices. Peacefully surrender yourself to them and cooperate, or resist.

The latter will get you hurt or killed. Everytime, all the time. It doesn't matter if you're the member of a church group, religious cult, bank robber, wife beater, or some drug dealing, black gang banger taking off on foot, in the latest episode of "Cops". It's not going to end well.

The fact remains that David Koresh and his bunch had the same 2 choices that everyone else has. Cooperate, or resist. He chose resistance.

Violently at first by shooting and killing Federal agents. Then passively by trying to outlast them for 51 days. He made bad choices both times. He could have simply avoided all of this by peacefully surrendering himself and all of his followers. As I said, he knew they were coming.

The worst ambulance chasing, criminal lawyer could have made the Feds look like fools in court. And in the process 76 people, (25 of them children), would not have lost their lives.
