But it says U.S. on it, so we can't even use it here.

Yes, I know, all our Castrol ILSAC 5w-30 options say U.S., too.

I sure hope it's good as I just poured a 5 qt. jug into my '07 V70 base.

I did an early "oil sump drain & fill" (I left the filter) because I needed 5 qts. of "OK oil" for a car which has been sitting.

Was hoping to use Castrol Edge 0w40 A3/B4 for my 2016 Merdedes e250 diesel, but it is not approved by MB for 229.51. And there is nothing in the Castrol Edge lineup in a 0w40 or 5w40 that is MB 229.51 approved and available in Canada. So that being the case, thinking to go with Mobile 1 ESP 0w40. Yes, I know I could go with a Fuchs or ELF/Total but prefer to stay with NA Brands readily available in Canada.

Thoughts on Mobil 1 ESP 0w40 for this vehicle?

Thanks!

M1 ESP 0W-40 does not have 229.51 approval. Only 0W-30 and 5W-30 have 229.51 approval.

Honestly there's little to no difference between 30 and 40 weight oils with 229.51 approval. I wouldn't bother choosing one over the other. They will all be 3.5-3.7 HTHS.

Yeah, probably BMW dropped it for LL04.

Looks like Castrol 0w40 has gone up from $24 to $27 across all the major retailers in the last few days...

Yeah I saw that at Walmart on Saturday. The Mobil 1 0W-40 was still a bit cheaper, I almost picked that up but went with the usual Castrol instead.

My old BMW doesn't really need LL-01 anyway, just about any A3/B4 would be suitable. Maybe even Amazon oil for $25 delivered

I ran across a few 5 qt. Jugs of that on clearance for around $12 each last spring. A few weeks later it was marked down to $7 and I cleaned it out. Some German made some Belgian.
