Best Pizza?

Tacconelli's Brick Oven Pizza in Philadelphia (Port Richmond), and Celibre's Pizza in South Phila. (over by chickie's and Pete's off of broad) are probably the best pizzas Ive ever had. I grew up 5 miles from Manhattan, and have had my fill of GREAT NY pizza, complete with production via the 'best tap water in the world' (some tout this in fact), and they are all consistently good...

But for the best pizzas, you have to take a little trip south on the 95. IMHO.

Patsy's Pizza @ 74th Street and Columbus Avenue. A pie will probably cost you 16 bucks or so and you could eat it by yourself.

It's not baked in the traditional way. I think the crust is baked then heated sauce is added, then some fresh mozzarella is added. It's cooked in a brick, wood burning oven.

Homemade!!!! My wife operated a pizza parlor for a while... She helped get the company started... So I had a lot of input on the sauce and dough etc........I made them use a recipe with barley in the dough... I also had a hand in makeing usre the suace had plenty of fresh herb's in it!!! My wife left the company after a year and 6 months after she left they went under... They atarted useing cheaper flour, no barley, lot's corn syrp and little spice and no fresh herb's in the sauce etc.......I talked with the owner wich was an ex-roomate and alumni but he seemed to think that pizza was pizza and that no one would notice!!! He was never around when we were origanaly developing the sauce and crust for him or manageing his company.... Only good pizza is interesting the rest is just slop!!!! It is getting harder and harder to find good pizza joints!!!!

Quote: I pity the people who do not live on the south side of Chicago. That is the Mecca of pizza.

Amen!!!!

Pizza. mmmmmmmmmmm Pizzaaaaaaa..

Chicago style is no doubt the best.
Thick crust = Gino's East or Edwardo's.

Thin crust: Aurelio's (there's one in Naples FLA too)

Although I'm partial to Chicago pizza, NY style is good too. Either one firmly spanks any chain-store pie.

The wife came back from Chicago last Saturday with a frozen Aurelio's pizza (still a few pieces in the freezer) and some 3 Floyds brew, rated #1 on ratebeer.com. My favorite thin crust pie and favorite beer. Does life get any better?
