I've watched a lot of the v12 self-driving videos on YouTube. It's not 100% successful/autonomous yet and probably never will be, but it's getting impressive.
A lot of the videos revolve around Tesla drivers pointing out the human mistakes of other drivers around them. Pretty funny and ironic...
I really like the stainless steel. Obviously the fact that it's very fast and electric.
Besides that, I suspect it's not all that fun to ride in or drive. Visibility seems pretty bad.
I think this is pretty amazing. "Self-driving" vehicles are learning how to creep forward in stopped traffic, for example, to allow another car to pass behind them. Another interesting one was gesture recognition.

I don't think the rumor makes any sense. What is Tesla going to do, just stop developing their flagship new product? No way. They need some new model to come to market. And not the Roadster, it's too niche.
Also, there's no Chinese competition in the US. The rumor doesn't make sense.
Edit...
I'm looking to buy back in. Not sure it's the right time yet. Now we need to make a judgement about the strength of China's economy to evaluate Tesla well, and that's not in my wheelhouse.
BTW gas prices are rising again.
A good dialog for these guys would be,
"So frequent oil changes are good. Should I change my oil every 100 miles?"
"No, that's too often."
"Should I change it every 1000 miles?"
"No, that's too often."
...
"Should I change it every 3000 miles?"
"Yes, that's about right."
"Why? What data...
Most cars with an oil life monitor will have you go way past a year. For my Chevy, driving 5k miles per year, the OLM says to change the oil around two years.
