Was always a dedicated Valvoline user before I started using Amsoil, so I vote for Valvoline.

Valvoline...

but my reason is stupid.

It comes out of the bottle a lighter color than Quaker State so it "looks cleaner"
hide

Yeah yeah yeah....I know. That has no bearing on how well it works, but it's something I started doing a LOOOOONNNGGG time ago and I have just stuck with the brand. If QS was considerably cheaper, I would (and have in the past) purchase it and wouldn't fret a bit about the protection level it provides. but when they are the same price, I pick Valvoline.

It does. I hate to admit that I know that but it does!

Except for Valvoline MaxLife ATF. Smells like gear oil.

Mobil 5000 smells like paint solvent..and all the others (not Valvoline) smell like what you said...gear oil.
Valvoline has a sweet smell to it smile It is funny but true. I always take a good sniff before I pour that beautiful golden oil into my car...when I use to use it all the time.
