I had a nail in one of my tires so I took it to a tire shop. They said the tread on the front tires were low (which they were). The original tires were Pirelli.
Anyway, the guy said they could put on Cooper tires for $60/each.
I get my vehicle back tonight and check in the dark (place was already closed) and they put on Starfire tires.
The receipt says Starfire Cooper SF340 tires. Was the guy a bit dishonest in saying they were cooper tires and not some subsidy of them?
Anyways, they have a 60k mile tread warranty. They look like beefy tires and have a nice tread to them but then again I'm no tire guru.
Normally I would inspect the tires before they installed them, but I was gone all day and left my car there. I was basically in a rush to get it fixed.
Even more frightening to us BITOGers....I got an oil change done there (since I recently pulled a back muscle and was due for an oil change. I bit the bullet and requested they do it). They use AGIP motor oil which is supposedly good stuff so I didn't have too many issues with letting them do the change. They did fill it a half quart over the full line, but I can live with that.
Anyway, two new front tires, balance and oil change for $180. Not too bad I think. Oil change was only $24.99
edit: Not sure if this should be in the tire section or not but feel free to move it to where it should go.
