Wasn't it propylene glycol ?

I think that the British Airforce used nearly pure glycerol during WWII.
 
Yeah, would be propylene glycol. Evans Cooling sells it.

Ran my 7.3 Power Stroke without a cap because we had a leak from an accessory heater line. Without the cap, there wasn't really any pressure build up. Didn't overheat, didn't overflow, and I lost minimal fluid as a result. Was a 500 mile drive home.
 
Evans coolant has an operating pressure in the 4-7 psi range and boils at 0 psi at 375F
excellent product I use it in everything I drive.
it does exactly what is advertised. that is what I have found since I have used it
