Hello!! This is my first post and I have been reading a little on the site but would like some help/input on Synthetic oil.
I bought a 2011 Sonata May 14th 2.4 4cyl. I drove it 2,200 miles with the factory oil in it. I brought it in to the dealer at 2200 miles and they changed the oil (the first one was free...) I now have 5300 miles and would like to switch over to a good Synthetic oil.
Here some information that may help:
1. 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 4cyl.
2.The manual calls for API Service SM ILSAC GF-4 or above.
3.I live in Northern Wisconsin so it will be getting cold here in a couple months...
4. I have been driving this car fairly easy so far, I have used the paddle shifters a couple of times just to get the RPM's up a little bit...
5.I drive 85% in town. I only live 4 1/2 miles from work and drive mostly in town during the week. I do however like to take longer road trips on the weekends. I can put 250/400 miles on some weekends depending on where I feel like cruising to....
So, I guess I am looking to get a Synthetic that will help my car last for a long time.I hold onto them for as long as I can and this was my first NEW car purchase,I had my last car for 10 years (1999 Buick Regal GSE) I am VERY good with maintenance and keep my cars clean!!
I have never used Synthetic oil in the past...I changed my oil every 3 months regardless of mileage in the past, after reading some information on this site I think that I could have gone a different route... Any information would be great!!
Thanks,
Scotty B
