I see Toyota will set a mandatory CEL,requiring starter replacement, on their start/stop equiped cars after 384k start/stops at 21/day. That's like 50 years. I was concerned about starter life on these cars. Impressive. Toyota had previously estimated starter life of 30k starts on non start/stops equiped cars.

Well, I can't answer for any brand car company as-far-as how they build their starters but they mostly claim that they are built better than the standard(non-start/stop) starter in order for them to perform more starts. I haven't replace a starter in a long time on any vehicle and it amazes me considering how many non-start/stop vehicles I've had and how many starts I've made on them in for example...
18 yrs/300K miles.

Hyundai claimed 50k for non start/stop vehicles and 250k for stop/start vehicles back when I worked on them
