Should subway limit the number of sandwiches 1 customer can order?

The randomness of counter service was always a gamble. Ordering on an app sounds good and likely is good often but there's no guarantee. Order and pay with an app ahead of time and still risk a delay? That's a NOGO option for me.
Limiting a customer's order?...big holes in a business model makes it a bad business to patronize.
Gotta carry a sandwich for lunch.

I used to get this for lunch. The line was always real short; one.

I order online at Chipotle often and find timeliness to vary widely. The location nearest my home would usually make my order several minutes early, like often 12 or 13 minutes early! I'd show up on time and find the food was room temperature already (I eventually started waiting inside, arriving early, that's how I knew it was made so far ahead of schedule). Then they changed their system so they don't even start to prepare the order until the customer arrives, so at that point it's no better than standing in line.

I’m with you Passport. The other morning on my way to work I counted 19 yes 19 cars lined up at Dunkin Doughnuts for who knows what? When did we become incapable of preparing a cup of coffee at home and figuring out how to take one with us? I know, I know, old man yelling at clouds. I plead guilty.

Disgusting chemical bread and no meat. Pass
I was going to say that but decided to feign consideration for others' feelings.

See the last line of my post (#22)
The Starbucks near us has a "wrap around" drive such that whenever either me or Mrs. Kira goes by it we report the line in number of degrees. 630 is our record.
Our DD just moved out of its postage stamp for a new building within a big lot. Sad. I yell at soft, motionless things too.

The same could be said of many restaurants.

I've gone into Chipotle many times only to get behind someone ordering for a large family or office. And inevitably at some point there's an online order that they just have to squeeze in to be sure it's on time.
The Chipotle near my office will lock the door to slow down foot traffic during lunch. The workers just move like molasses and will sometimes only take online orders. I’ve stood there for 45 minutes waiting on an online order with 20 other people.

In fairness, it’s next to St. Louis Universiry so it’s pretty busy but this has happened when school is out of session too.

Living outside of Philly and at the southern NJ beach, the choices for decent sandwich/hoagie/cheesesteak places is huge. A poorly slapped together Wawa hoagie is far better than anything Subway produces.
Nothing like that near me. Just subway is close enough to go to lunch. There is a small sub shop across town and they had the best meatball sandwich ever! Then they took it off the menu so my only option is subway

Yeah, then you could wait just as long while burning money and polluting the environment even more. Drive-thru should be available only to those with legitimate handicap tags for their vehicle.
That's what auto start/stop is for.

Subway franchises (at least some) do not seem to discourage this behavior. Best to stop giving them any business during the lucnh hour where these things take place.
You are asking them to stop making money? Id order on the app or online ahead of time and pick up and go.

Expecting most folks to actually have to park thier vehicle, and then in a major horror show have to actually walk all the way up to the counter to place their order? There will be riots in the street if we try to make folks do all that activity prior to obtaining their very healty fast food lunch, soda and chips.

Think of it this way - limiting customers on how many they can buy at once or when they want to is ... not only limiting business on how many they can sell and when, it's pretty much what socialism about.

Customer walks up at lunch and needs 100 subs that's OK? I'm just asking your limit 300

Buy some rolls, meat, cheese, produce, condiments and make them yourself and pack a lunch. Toss an apple in there and whatever else you want. Get yourself a big Igloo water jug. Cut out the middleman. Save money. Better sandwich. Save that time for you Seems like the logical solution or you can raise a ruckus and complete your evolution to Karenhood.
