Friend and I had a 2008 Passat 2.0T rental for two days.

We racked up about 80 miles and had to put in 4 gallons of gas before we returned it, so I would guess that the fuel economy was about 20 mpg.

It was mostly highway driving, but my friend drove it VERY hard.

Just got back from a little trip of around 1000 miles.

The last few tanks have been for a 2007 Subaru Outback (2.5l H4 NA with Auto-stick).

26.03
24.99*
27.35

80+ MPH going up and down grades loaded. I'd say 90%hwy / 10% heavy city*.

Around town and commuter use (20 miles one way hwy and rest in town)

25.91
24.87
26.25

So over 6 tanks and 2,200 miles average is 25.9 MPG using PEN AND PAPER (the trip computer is close to 2mpg off most of the time)

Have not taken a highway trip in it so don't know what will happen, but around town I am getting 22.2 mpg. Not bad for a real full size car.

On the Ranger averaged 31mpg on the trip from KC to Ft. Smith. Had it loaded with mattresses on the way down. Drove 65-70... not to shabby for a truck.

Subaru is consistently doing 31.5, which is lower than usual. A quick check yesterday revealed a hot rear axle. Time to inspect the rear brakes, especially the parking brake cables.

This shows how useful it is to track mpg.

My Subaru WRX (04) is getting 21MPG currently with 80 city/20 highway. The 80% city is really around town and majority of trips are
That MPG jumps about 2-3MPG if I keep RPMs at or below 3000RPM but what is the point of owning a WRX if out of boost. I used 4000RPM mostly as a shift point(peak torque).

The Buick delivers a smidgen over 21 mpg over 10-11 days, with plenty of A/C use in about 75% city driving. My highway runs out to the suburbs are at about 55-60 mph, depending on traffic. Tryin' to save every drop o' that thar liquid gold, fellers.

My '86 Subaru GL 4wd wagon has been getting 32 mpg, mixed city/highway. This is with an ej22 motor swapped in from a '96 Imprezza. It gets the same mileage as the tired old carbed 1.8 and has a lot more power.

26-29 mpg on 1.6L 3spd automatic Corolla (95)
28-31 mpg on 1.8L automatic Integra (97)
23-26 mpg on 3.0L OHV automatic Taurus (01)
20-23 mpg on 3.6L Buick Regal (03)
29-32 mpg on 2.5L IS250 (08)
