It's had two different transmission upgrades over time (as noted by subsequent post). The Odyssey's transmission reliability scores in CR were abysmal prior to 2004. 2004 was kind of an odd duck -- it was the 1st generation body style, but had the first upgraded transmission. 2005 and 2006 shared that same first upgraded transmission, and their transmission reliability scores are "Very Good". Beginning in 2007, when it got its second upgraded transmission (the same 4-shaft unit that the 2005 MDX and 2006 Ridgeline had), its reliability scores have been "Excellent".
Folks have their opinions about Consumer Reports, but CR's user surveys show a CLEAR and DEMONSTRABLE change in transmission reliability between 2003/prior and 2004/later.
