Wix has their equivalent for both now.

Looks like another 'lower bypass psi' filter. Bigger filter with more media to reduce the 'usage' of the bypass. With all the VVT/VCT... looks like the "adjusting the cam timing/phase programming" is more critical to oil flow.

Ford also changed to the lower-bypass FL500s over the FL820s. And, don't forget the FL2005/FL400s difference, along with issues that Kia/Hyundai had with certain filters. Not good!

To think, one day in the future you might 'fail' an emissions test because you used nothing but the wrong oil weight or oil filter, and the cams were too slow to phase.

As the automotive engineers add more variables to your engines tuning, they need more control of the variables.

This will hurt the bypass filter junkies. Some new engines in the future might not have ANY surplus oil flow, as all the flow at every temp/rpm is utilized. Surplus oil flow would be a waste of oil pumping efficiency.
