In a VW 2000 Jetta VR6 70,000 miles. I have been using a Kendall 5/30 oil.
I am thinking of switching to Mobile 1 5/30. Is there much difference between the M1 for cars or the M1 for truck & suv?
I don't have a good reason for changing brands, but the more I read, the less I know.
Thanks, Ken

Use the VW recommended oil there is a reason for the recommendation. Read the manual and nothing else concerning your oil choice.

You usually won't here me say RTFM very often, but the folks at EM definitely get the approval process concept and don't market products for applications where they might not cut the mustard. Go with the approved oil in this case and you should be good to go.

+1 on this

I did study the VW/Audi history but I'm no expert. I 'believe' it is VW spec 502.00 for yr app but things change. I would do research on VW specific sites but the url below will get you started.

I don't know yr weight but I see 502 on my short list:
Val. SynPower 5W40, 20W50
Val. Maxlife Synth 5W30, 10W30
Cast. Syntec 5W40, 0W30 (aka GC)
Chevron Ultra & Superme 5W40
Conaco Kendall GT-1 5W40
M1 0W40 Euro
PP Euro
QS Q-HP 5W40 (may be pending)

Most of these are exotic* so few/no sales except the SynPower.
*Of course the M1 Euro is readily available but I don't even find it in jugs for price break.
