It has the factory oil cooler.

Lol no, I've used more Wix filters than anything.

I took one off a 6.2 l F250 today. Its a late 2015 model and the factory installed filter did not say Motorcraft and no model number (FL 820s) etc. Plus the cap style filter wrench that's made for the 820 wouldn't fit as the flutes were different.

I got scared away from MC filters and put on a XG Ultra.

I wonder if Ford does this to get people without extra tools to go to the dealer or if the factory is using a different filter mfg.

Great C&P car51.

I noticed this MC FL-820S that car51 C&P has 8 bypass holes in it. The MC FL-820S filter that was on my sons 5.4 engine was dated August 2010, and ONLY had 4 bypass holes. Interesting!

Flow improvement it seems.

The first filter I cut open was a Motorcraft FL820S with date code 904121217. April 12, 2012. This filter had the 4 inlet holes on the bypass valve. All the FL820S I have purchased after this one have the 8 holes.

Date code: 904121217 (Apr 12, 2012) with 4 inlet holes to the relief valve.

Date code: 906241527 (Jun 24, 2015) with 8 inlet holes to the relief valve.

I am not sure when the change was implemented.

WO, it only makes sense that this should have been done. That, or, they could have elongated the current 4 holes that were present already.
