Thanks for the one line rebuttal for all the bashers.

For many jobs=opportunity and perhaps some aren't interested in that.

A lot of tech and legal jobs in Mass...

Don't forget the medical field. Some of the best hospitals in the entire country!

This is true! MassHealth.

My former lady jumped ship.. from a CUSHY legal job to a CUSHY Healthcare field job. Good for her.

Seems Massachusetts DOES have work. My experience there was positive. I would live there again.

Now, Indiana? Not so sure.

Yeah Mass Health, great system.

Mandating health insurance coverage for most all citizens has had little success in reining in Massachusetts’ medical spending. The Boston area, for instance, remains one of the nation’s costliest places to obtain health care.

“On a per capita basis, we have one of the most expensive health care systems in the country,” Andrew Dreyfus, president and chief executive of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, told a recent conference in Boston of the Association of Health Care Journalists. “If we do nothing, we’re going to bankrupt this state.”

Edit: Go ahead and try to get some of this great medical care in MA with Mass Heath, my doctor doesn't even accept or want it.
Its as bad as the British national health scheme, you know the one where the Brits come to Germany for real medicine.

Ahhhh, yes. She is making out like a bandit over there in Boston.

They seem to have a very inflated opinion of themselves over there. Why is that?

You guys know who you are. Now you also know how you sound.

YES, THANK YOU!

Not that I am totally in love with ALL of the state, and it's policies/worldviews, but it DOES have some very nice parts (Berkshires/etc.) that would enable me to be more than willing to put up with the taxes, and the so-called "commie/socialist liberalism" by the haters on here.

The difference being: I have lived in the area my entire life, and have worked in Massachusetts for almost 20 years! The state is a SEWER.

Why not move then? NH or elsewhere? Is Germany much better with the Turks and North Africans and high tax rates?

Just curious.

Maybe he thinks it is still 1942??

From everything I hear about it, it is actually fairly "liberal/leftist" and VERY 'green' (environmentalist) over there now, and right wing fascism is actually a CRIME.

Maybe the reality is the above is just 'for show', and under the surface they all have the same exact attitude as the early '40s 'Fatherland'?

Amen Jarlaxle. We don't always agree but on this we sure do.

While I have never lived in MA I have always lived within 10-15 miles of the border and spend a lot of time in the state for varied reasons. I do have a relative who lives there however and I have worked in MA.

I wouldn't call the negative comments in this thread about MA your typical bashing. Rather they are just people describing how they feel about the place based on actual experience there. You also have to remember that the OP asked us specifically about the area and those of us who know it are just answering honestly. It isn't like we are just piling on for no reason. We were asked. I would also point out that for the most part the MA residents are chiming in with the negative comments like the rest of us. IF those who live there are echoing what others are saying to me it makes those other folks comments accurate and true.

As Jarlaxle said the state is really screwed up. I won't call it a sewer but it sure does stink.

Only 3 states I wouldn't even consider living in, even if I was paid to do so, in this country and MA is one of them. It really is a horrible place IMO. If that makes me a basher well then I guess I am a basher. Seen to much of that state in my life and my own state( NH )is now being ruined by transplants from there.

What an interesting thread! We are getting closer to the truth.

In Germany and some other Northern European countries, people understand better how their interests are intertwined rather than in conflict. So there is far less of an attitude to get ahead at the expense of others.

Unfortunately, the latter is all too prevalent in the US and many other countries, which is why government has become about people and corporations doing what is in their interest rather than the interest of the taxpayer and society.

But in those few Northern European countries, they can be more confident of getting value for money from taxes which is why they have voted the way they have and choose to be so generous with all sorts of universal benefits.

I bought a car from Pepperell, Mass. Sounds like not far from you..

And would you agree that MA looks more attractive to outsiders (*those that do not actually live in MA) than to those that do?

I know the "Commonwealth" is inefficient (the Charlie card was cool... kind of.. and public transportation in and around Boston is amazing,) but I agree with some that have said: There is a lot of stuff IN Mass (Boston.)

It has also been told to me that nobody in Mass eats at Red Lobster, or Boston Market .. rather, "Legal's seafoods" (??) .. several other chains have srarted in Mass, too. Cosi and Bertucci's. Perhaps you have heard of Cosi. Bertucci is overpriced-ness. There are other chains birthed in MA, too...

You might want to investigate further why that is.

A lot of people in SW RI bad mouth SE CT; I hear it a lot because 40% of them drive to CT for their jobs. lol

In my opinion this is getting pretty close to an ethnic slur. Maybe the moderators need to take a look. For sure, I am quite sure 'they all' do not have the exact attitude of the early 1940's 'Fatherland.' Whenever anybody says that 'everybody' has the same attitude and beliefs in a country it has to be wrong.

And if somebody is a conservative they are a 'right wing' fascist? Really?

You want a mod to get involved after a mod said:

"Is Germany much better with the Turks and North Africans"

Wouldn't that be equivalent to saying "Is New York much better with the Italians or Boston much better with the Irish"?

Ever though maybe you heard wrong? German politics are hard to understand and German attitudes even harder for a foreigner.
Stop with the 1940's trash talk it makes you look even more clueless.

Following - the evidence would suggest you follow me. In this post and many others, you have posted in the thread after me.

Attack - if you really think what I said was an attack, then my initial diagnosis is that you have a victim mentality.

It probably will be locked up. But the moderators need to note that this aa1986 guy apparently did not even post today until after I posted. And I stand by what I said. Not all Germans think the same anymore than all Americans think the same. And not all conservatives are 'rightwing 'fascists.' Anybody with common sense can realize that is the truth.

It is laughable that I am following aa1986 around when he posted after my post. This guy is causing a lot of problems at this website.

Here's my post today 35 minutes before yours.

Pretty much every post you make is in a thread in which I have already posted. If anyone is doing the following, it is you.
