Magnetic Drain Plugs?

Pointless snake oil type device. There is no empirical data to support that they do anything.

The only positive thing I've ever heard is "they don't hurt".

Whoopee!!!
Necro!!

I recently changed the oil on my non-profit's '21 Polaris Ranger. The oil was glitter city, like a child's nail polish.

I think it was from a warranty service when the engine wouldn't start or would run poorly. The dealer claimed they found some issue with jumped time or chain guides (I wasn't part of the conversation with dealer directly) .

I'm guessing the dealer didn't change the oil after fixing the problem, as I believe all the timing stuff is handled topside.

I'll change the oil again soon but in the interim ‐‐ and for subsequent oil changes --the magnetic plug will give me a way to gauge if the engine is still producing some metal.

It runs fine so no way we're replacing the engine unless 100% required. And I don't have time to tear into it unless 100% required.
