Before he starts filing I can see the threads are stripped on the bolt. It needs to be chased with a die. Sometimes you can file the threads to chase them with a small file, but he's got the wrong concept. You file in between the threads and if you only have a couple threads stripped, it can be enough to get the bolt started again. I think someone told him to file the threads and he has no idea how to do it.
 
I bet he could have paid a real mechanic to do the job with the money he's spent on MMO, Seafoam, and WD-40.

And, I'm sure he could have purchased a nice, reliable car with the many thousands of dollars we've seen him blow on now-scrapped vehicles, additives, energy drinks, weird fetishes, smartphones, etc. over the past few years. $10k? $15k?

Heck, he could be living in a place of his own instead of his parents' garage. 33 is too old to be living like that, blowing every spare cent on junk.

For those of you who haven't seen his threads before, this is now it always ends. He asks for help fixing up a vehicle, ignores it, and then documents its destruction. It eventually leads to his screename du jour getting banned. Well-meaning BITOG members are enabling his self-destructive behavior.

I'm just saying it is weird (and possibly expensive, an issue for somebody with no money). All the power to him if that's what he needs to get off, the only person risking being hurt is himself.

Some, at least. Some he might have just abandoned because people weren't engaging him anymore.

I know he's destroyed two Volvos, a Jaguar, perhaps a Taurus, maybe two Hondas, and a Blazer or Jimmy. There must be others. They all end up just like this. The Swedespeed (Volvo) forum is just as irritated with the way he ignores advice and destroys vehicles. I'm assuming he's done the same on Honda, Jag, and GM forums.

He also destroyed an Expedition, one of his more epic kills. That was the vehicle he drove down the highway on the rotor after driving the rim off of it.

Yikes, I must have missed that one! The one that stood out for me was the Volvo getting stuck in the snow and him flooring it in both directions. Hard not to look.
 
Let's consider the possibility that he's not getting advice appropriate for his situation. There are many who cannot wrap their head around patching a car up. They think the $1000 solution is required whether you're working on a beater or new ride. That may be part of why so much money got wasted.

I understand where you are coming from here, but no one told him to put a tap in a drill and have at it.

You really need to look up and read some of the threads by his previous usernames. He is absolutely nuts. His behaviour is similar to somebody with the most advanced case of ADHD on record and a massive learning disability snorting half a kilo of Cocaine.
