You, among many, many others, completely ignore this: the law states keep right except to pass.

You ignore that law in this thread and, by your own admission, on the road. Through your own illegal and discourteous driving, and your self righteous defense of your actions, you exacerbate the frustrations of those with whom you share the road.

You complain about other's driving, but I have to ask:

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

That pretty much includes all highways in the metro areas. I was taught differently. I'll move over for anyone. If I were, hypothetically, doing 100 in a 70 zone I would move over to let the person doing 110 pass me. My purely selfish motivations are that I don't like tailgaters and better that they get the ticket than me.
I'm not sure I'd rely on a "legal opinion" from a driving school owner. Here there's a state statute requiring drivers to keep right and leep moving. I've seen tickets issued for impeding traffic
although you have to work at it to get one. "My engine ain't running guud " isn't a defense.

Let's just say that, if she was wrong, it doesn't matter because without the blatant signage there is always someone blocking the passing lane. If keep right except to pass is really a rule then it is commonly ignored.

You're entitled to take offense. Some people in the world have a different opinion of importance of following all of the rules.

I'm at risk of a ticket. I take that very slight risk on.

How it is.

I am with you, 100%. If you are impeding traffic, MOVE OVER. I'll do 90+ if I [censored] well please, and I don't need a highway superhero in my way to "teach me a lesson."

SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.

You are classic example of what is wrong with drivers today...you think you can make up your own rules...speed limits exist for a reason...if you can't abide by the laws, then stay off the roads!
If you can't stay right and keep moving, stay out of the passing lane, Speedy.

Because I complain about speeders (law breakers), you assume I camp in the left lane and block faster moving traffic...I don't...you know what they about those who assume?

Show me one post of mine where I said I block the fast lane...I don't and I didn't...you people make far too many assumptions...

What do they say?

Judging by your off the wall posts, I could see you cutting off a speeder and potentially causing a wreck because they are "breakin' da law."

Personally, I could care less on how one drives as long as they aren't being dangerous.

I'll use the left lane as I see fit...in a safe manner. On my way home from work every night, I see at least ten of the same cars thinking they OWN the left lane and expect everybody to get out of the way so that they can go 80 plus. That's as bad as the folks that drive slowly in that lane. I get into the left when a merge is coming up as many idiots won't even do the speed limit when they get on....and endanger everybody. It matters little to the speed demons in the left lane however...as they will force you out of the way soon enough.

Fact is, habitual speeders are jerks....but left lane slow-pokes are just as bad.

I've been invited ON to sites. BTW since you wave the flag around, what was your MOS?

You're assuming, and you're wrong...

To have a discussion about today's terrible drivers...why does every thread have to turn into a "flame grampi" thread?

I agree 100%!

Every thread of this type bemoaning lack of driving skills, courtesy, and attention makes me dream about automated transport. We humans are a lost cause. Drivers will never get better, only worse. We have hit the point of diminishing returns on highway improvements, too. More lanes is not the answer.

Agreed for the most part. Although I think I can speak for most Software Engineers that we do not want to have to develop the logic for such a bizarre situation where there is going to be a death but a decision is going to have to be made.

Odds of said scenario? Probably low but it's an ethics problem. If the car must protect the driver and it must swerve either left or right to avoid death straight ahead which way does it choose? There are two people on the left and three people on the right. What does the computer do? Unfortunately it will have to make those decisions if automation is going to be the future.

Not saying my example is a good one but something along those lines.

I agree. There is a huge ethical issue at play here. And, in our litigious society, who (individual or company) is going to step forward and put themselves at risk? It is going to have to have social (government) support. I don't want to start an argument about that, but I believe that the current mobility model will become obsolete in short order. Large metro areas are what I am referring to, not smaller cities and rural zones. Those environments are still idiot-friendly. No offense intended to those who live in such areas.

No idea, but I drive a Vibe which is much the same, I stay in the right lane expect to pass, I usually have my cruse set just slightly over the speed limit.

And yes I use my signal when changing lanes, not saying I don't forget now and then, but not on purpose!

Just saying I'm not perfect!

I usually see full size Chevy and Ford trucks, and premium brand vehicles in the left lane...of course they're always speeding more than anyone else too...

Well yeah, I normally do about 20 over unless my Escort starts going off or I see a lot of police activity. There was a new F150 that stuck with me for nearly 80 miles.

It's Rogue, Rav4, CRV etc... That's slowing the whole thing down by matching the speed of the car next to it while going 71.5mph on the left lane.

20 over is too fast...5 over or less is fine, but 20 is way too fast...what's the posted speed limit there?

Yep....I agree. A guy at my work with some GIANT Dodge pickup often zooms past me at 80 mph in a 60. The guy is a real moron. I used to enjoy talking to him at work...but when I found out how selfish and dangerous he is on the roads...I can't stomach him because I'm afraid I'll let him know how I feel about his driving.
