Awesome. Let's see if this keeps up, I'll be done my work in a few hours if that is the case. I doubt it would persist that long.......

FYI.

We will see. The Boinc site implied that it did, on one of the NVIDIA lists. Maybe it doesnt, so be it then. We will see.

BOINC (as an application) may support it, but the WCG projects don't.

did you get the new version of boinc or the old one nick linked?

all my problems went away when i went to the test version vs the 6.x

also the 8600 is pretty pathethic I wouldnt worry about gpu computing on it much.

my 460 which is 2+ years old is 1100-1250 Gflop based on how much I have it OC and their not so accurate test.
and its 5-6x faster than a core on my [email protected]

boinc's completion time and estimated time usually are far off.

Im running the latest version. Its not supported, and while the 8600 may be "pathetic", my 2008 MBP runs all sorts of stuff great, including real molecular theory studies, so if I could have taken advantage of using the GPU to help a little, why wouldnt I?

Oh well, it is what it is...

well i had an 8800gt 5.5 years ago that was 2.5x as fast is all I meant. Its not pathetic compared to 5 year old laptop gpu's
just anything modern.

also the laptop versions were usually slower versions vs the desktop.

The WCG-branded BOINC is at version 6.10.58.

But if you download it directly from BOINC page, the latest stable version is 7.0.28. They have both x86 as well as x64 versions, although I'm not sure it matters much...

Anybody else having trouble getting tasks? My computer isnt getting tasks and the queue is getting quite thin. Its going to run out of work before too long.

Okay, snooping around, it looks like 'Help Conquer Cancer' is out of work, which is the only GPU user on WCG right now. Thats why my queue looks so thin; when running GPU stuff it would burn a WU in 6min or so.
