Combating piston swell with oil

With oil? Thinners the winner.
Other?
Richer air/fuel ratio.
AUX oil cooler.
One level lower t stat.
Better exhaust scavenging.
Cold air.

Why? They haven't come up with a lubrication solution to prolong the lives of these engines.

Problem is an oil that thin will not even come close to the required HTHS of 3.5+.


I believe RL 5W20 HTHS is 3.2 or 3.3. pretty close and I know their 5W30 would meet the HTHS requirement or even their 0W30 if you wanted to go this route. And unless your traveling at 155mph I think 3.2 would provide enough protection but this is of coarse my opinion. Not fact.
