ive been using mahle filters in my m3 for a long time now, and havent given it much though, does anyone know anything about the german oil filters performance? is there a better brand to go with? price has no concern here.

No, thats just the fad.

If you want the best filter, you can run fixed mileage UAOs, with same brand/weight oil each time, including particles counts, with each filter brand, and pick the one with the lowest particles counts and the lowest wear.

You might just prove some of those online forum fads WRONG!

umm.. i dont think its a fad as much as its the original part for the car, and i have a wholesale account and get the german filters for a few dollars...

i just wanted to see if anyone knew of a certain filtering benefit of another brand (kn, amsoil etc..) or if its pretty much all the same. if its the same, the oe mahles are cheapest in my case..

Until Amsoil comes out with their EA oil filter for >92 BMW's, I'll be sticking with a Mann one as I always have.
