Anyone using Mobil 1 0W-40 on the race track?

I've noticed that a lot of companies have now adopted "recommended for". No one can dispute that. I can "recommend" cooking oil for Ferraris if I want...

Nope. They offer a 0W-20 qualifying oil and a 0W-30 race oil. The regular 0W-40 is the oil specified by Honda Performance Development for their IRL engines, though.

Porsche doesn't seem to agree with you. They just ran it at LeMans.

My opinion is that you should change the oil after every track weekend, and not arrive at the track with more than 1000 miles on your oil.

My other opinion is that 10W-40 oil is considerably superior at track conditions to 0W-40 oil. In particular, the HTHS numbers are usefully higher.

I obey these rules on my Ferrari F355B.
