I'm glad to see someone defending Firestone Rock Hudstone, they really have learned their lesson from the Explorer fiasco.
To tell the truth I wasn't thrilled at the thought of selling Firestone tires when the business opportunity came up, I expected zippered and separated tires being returned on a weekly basis. I was wrong. In 3 years and about 4,000 Bridgestone/Firestone tires sold we have only had one tire come back zippered and none with catastrophic separations (knock on wood). The zippered tire was a Steeltex FSR designed about 20-25 years ago. I immediately dropped the Steeltex line and started my crusade against old designs and models w/o nylon cap-plies. Modern well made/well designed tires will still fail from under inflation, but not in the spectacular way that old designs will.
