I am curious as to if there are any 2016+, 3rd Generation Toyota Tacoma owners that frequent this site. Do you like your vehicles? Pros/Cons? I recently bought a 2017 left over Double Cab SR5 V6 and love it. However, Consumer Reports does not share my opinion!

CR is very mediocre at many things, but not especially good at anything. Find specialists if you want accurate information on any topic.

I do not, otherwise I would have not bought the vehicle. Just curious about other owners opinions.

I’ve heard from a lot of 16+ Tacoma guys wish they kept their 2nd Gen. The 4.0L doesn’t need high rpms to make power. Love my 15 everyday.

There may be a lot of things CR doesn't get right but in my experience their car reports are usually spot on because it's based on real owner data.

Two good buddies of mine each bought 2016 Taco's and love them. However, CR compares vehicles subjectively, in their respective segment. And if you drove each vehicle in a segment the way they do, you'd pick a favorite based on your own criteria. Also, CR has shown some Taco reliability issue of late which is odd for this truck.

I bought a new 2016 double cab offroad and kept it for just over a year. I liked the truck, but I couldn't stand the transmission. Even the slightest hill would cause the truck to do a double downshift and rev through the roof.

Yeah, a lot of the so-called "car guys" who are reporters for car mags/websites/YouTube are elitists who spend a lot of time driving high-end (expensive) vehicles, so their opinions tend to be pretty biased in some ways.

For exammple, they talk a lot of smack about the 1GR-FE engine, saying it's rough, not smooth, unrefined, doesn't make good power, etc. That's hogwash in my opinion, and I know what fast feels like. No, it's not fast, but my Taco does 0-60 in around 7.5 seconds, with plenty of low-end grunt, and it's been an anvil for the last 200,000 miles. I don't consider it to be unrefined, at all.

So, yeah, I'd suggest to people to make their own evaluations on vehicles, and to take opinions read online or in magazines for what they're worth.
