Has the APIGL-5 rating have run Mobil 1 in a open differential in a 03 astro van. Should I change brands? It has 200,000 miles on it.

I have used a lot of super tech 75w90 gear oil with no issue. I say go for it if you need to change. I usually run 100k on a open diff that does not tow much.

yup

It's a good lube. Less than $6 per quart. GL-5, MT-1, J2360, MIL-PRF-2105E. It meets all the right specs.

It's basically MAG1 Differential fluid.

Not for use in Manual Transmissions.

Why not? I used it before in my Subaru 5 speed. Did I screw it up?

Spartanfool,

You might want to try a dedicated manual trans fluid.

I run a mix of Amsoil's MTF and MTG.

I think some Subaru's actually spec a GL5 diff fluid in their manual trannies.

Not if it is a Subaru with a common sump driveline system.

Ford XT-75W90-QGT Carries a GL-5 rating as well and does have the proper friction modification for manuals', whereas the SuperTech and MAG1 does not.
