The Civic likes the heavier stuff. Which 5W30 is currently the heaviest? How about 0W40 or 5W40?

Thank you

Castrol used to be on the thicker side while Havoline (that you are using) used to be on the thinner side.
Without looking at their PDS I'm not sure if this is still true.

Play nice Mola

Redline and Euro oils tend to have higher visc 30 grades.

Since some of the 0w40 grades shear into a 30, Mobil/Castrol/Pennzoil 0w40 are a good choice too.

I'm using PHM 5w20 right now and it runs just like all of the other brands of 5w30 and even some 10w30s did. It's also on the cheaper side and readily available.

Yes, a ACEA A3/B4 5W30 is a lot "heavier" than a ILSAC 5W30.

As a added bonus you get a high TBN of 10 or more.
