the op has a 6.0, cartridge element with an o-ring for the cap.
to avoid any issues (there have been many), use either the motorcraft/international/or racor branded filter.
they are all made by racor and due to patent rights owned by racor no one else can make the exact same filter, which causes the anti-drain back valve to malfunction, or they come with thier own replacement cap or a little plastic clip for the anti-drain back valve.
don't turn a simple job into a complicated mess, just use what i have listed above and there won't be any issues
