Which oil for 1994 LS400; QS or PZ choices

What would you choose? Such a negligible price difference. Obviously the ultimate protection is a good choice, but my main curiosity is this. Would you rather have quaker state full syn/ultimate protection, or good ol penzoil fully syn? My car is a 1994 ls400 1uzfe non vvti 120k miles. My location is north il. I bought this car 1 month ago and the oil in it was extremely dark, and most likely 3 years old with 2k miles according to the sticker. My first oil change was with super tech syn blend (which I assume used to be their conventional) with a st3614 oil filter (yes I know crappy filter). I put 1500 on this oil and am changing it soon with a 90915 yzzd3 filter I plan to run 4500 oci

Wouldn't penzoil black bottle be the better choice as it's penzoil instead of quaker state? For example penzoil black bottle vs reg quaker state full syn. Penzoil black will have a better ad package right? But as far as quaker state ultimate protection vs penzoil black I'm not sure

Quaker State/QSUD is generally Dexos rated, has passed GM testing & specs. Pennzoil black bottle is NOT Dexos rated, some people consider it a watered down version of PZ Platinum or Ultra. But I would use the cheapest one… FYI-they’re both made by the same company!

Quaker state advanced is the same price as penzoil black

You've said nothing of your OCI plan, etc. I'll assume it's all "normal" conditions and durations.

In that case, run any of the ST lubes and save some money. The 1UZFE engine is not picky about lubes. 5w-20 or 5w-30 year round

I would take QSFS unless QSUP is on sale.

FYI, you can order QSUP 5 quart 5w-30 right now for $20.96 from walmart.com (link)

Pennzoil Full Synthetic (black label) is not dexos rated, which makes Quaker State a better value.

I used Pennzoil Yellow Bottle in 5W30 with the Toyota filter in a 1991 LS400 until I sold it at 260,000 miles. The UOAs showed extremely low wear values, which I suspect could be achieved with any good quality oil and the OEM filter. These engines are very easy on oil.

It's ******** cause I can't find penzoil yellow bottle anymore. But pyb is more money than a super tech full syn and the same as a quaker state syn, so idk why I would run pyb

Did u run the 90915 yzzd3?

Penzoil platinum is Def not less than qs, and the only pen platinum that is on clearence is high mileage oil and pretty sure it's 0w20
I was just going off your first picture. The PP 0w20 is .20 cents cheaper. You never mentioned if you were going to use a 20 grade or 30 grade unless I missed it

For sure yea Def going to run 30 grade. I would never run 20weight especially in this engine.
