Yep, seems to be common in other countries. Oils like 5w-20 and 0w-20 are nothing more than EPA pacifiers in my mind. They are designed to improve fuel economy, not wear protection. The one car I had that specced 0w-20 always sounded loud and clattery on hot days, and really bothered me. If I ever wind up with one again, it'll get something thicker.
