What a waste... new car, short OCIs for warranty

For a long time I'd use my early changed oil as top-off oil for family and friends.
Sometimes it was very much needed.
The 4.6l F-150 (takes 6 qt,) which was clattering loudly on 3 takes the cake.

I'd always tell 'em, "You were low, so the oil you had got the $#!^ kicked out of it. Have it changed soon even though you're full now".
I cared that much. When people scattered I stopped doing it.

Assuming my catch pan was clean, which it was, it was an efficient thing to do.

I can't imagine having warranty issues by not changing v. low mileage oil b/c of a 6 mos. listing in an owner's manual.
This, exactly. I am in the same boat as the OP with my Subaru (less than 2000 miles per year so far) and I have changed the oil once per year so far. Maybe I'd change it more often if they'd extend the three- or five-year warranty just for me, you know, because of the low miles, but I doubt they'd do that.
