I could have swore it was a Cologne. I've always thought the Essex V6 was the 3.8L Taurus/Sable/Windstar/Mustang V6 from the 1980s-mid 2000s.

Dont. The steel ones are very noisy.

I know, but the noise gets better as it wears in, a friend has one in his engine and it's not obnoxious.

Yes, there's two different Ford Essex V6 engines, the Canadian and British, the British one is significantly older ( Designed in 1965 ), and shares nothing in common with the Canadian one.
