I recently switched to Delvac 1 from M1,0w-40.
It reduced my oil consumption by half and seems to keep its color better.
However for top offs during use, any problems with mixing a little M1, 0-40 as I have a few bottles left over and nothing to use them on.

No, no problem at all!!!

I use Delvac One 5w40 in a TDI application. I would back fill almost any engine gasser or diesel with Delvac One 5w40, but do not due to it is more costly than say 5w30 Mobil One

I would also back fill a TDI with Mobil One 0w40 because it does meet the diesel specification.

I likely would of done the oil change using the few quarts of 0W-40.... then the remaining fill with Delvac-1. That way none is remaining from the stock you had - plus the vehicle would of received a slower acclimation to the new oil.

No harm done either way. It just prolongs the mixture of these two longer because using around three quarts of "top-off" will likely take a couple more OCIs (assuming no significant leaks).
