Well, I guess we can simulate ID with AI or some structural/functional encoding..I guess you could play Supreme Being and plant some flag.

buster - Not so fast... They have NOT been solved. In no way.

Of the various theories of evolution [there are more than one and they contradict each other], the best they can come up with is a sudden unexplainable development into highly complex creatures.

It just happened and they don't know why.

We can also give the robots the ability to self-replicate using modular plans, and let them exchange those plans among themselves on occasion.

buster - That link is not question specific, as your statement was.
We have to consider all the evidence and anomalies that are present. Only by ignoring facts will we assume evolution.

I got a little behind.......on this thread.

Some examples given. Rapid (2nd gen!) beak evolution suggests a couple things - the birds had this within their genetic make up in the first place, but only arose with need (so to speak). Again - I am stating for the third time: Change happens. The birds did NOT morph into another species. While one valid definition of "species" includes the inability to breed outside, the reason/cause of this must be examined when, as in the case of the flower, change happens. Again - the flower did not change into a whole new flower.

Not all memes are negative. There are evolutionary advantages in certain situations for (semi) intelligent creatures to rapidly pass consistent behavior amongst a single generation.

Spot on! It’s called NATURAL SELECTION. Not random mutations of the evolutionary model of which have not been proven.

Where do you get the idea of a "creator"?

Good question.

Hmmm..I'm not going to tread too much more into this ..but let me offer you one observation that may make sense to you.

As I grow in wisdom, I see magic. Not in our achievements ..but rather the futility of them. I see more and more how our gains in knowledge are always trumped. One after another we find that all of our solutions are not solutions at all ..but temporary relief from the immutable bylaws of existence. Some "thing" wrote those perfect equations and I don't pretend to even come close to understanding them beyond the fact that they've proven themselves absolutely perfect... and that despite our best efforts, they have never been conquered in the test of the passage of time.

We live in a perfect prison ..or rather are traveling through a perfect maze that ends up having but one path that doesn't turn back upon itself in futility ..and our very primal nature resists it. It is only our spiritual development that leads to any true enlightenment.

Over time, singularities could potentially "eat" nearly all matter and energy. Now what happens when enough singularities come together some time later...
