That does it! I think the dealer can do it now.

That is why I wait for closeouts and buy it all up. I have well over 100 quarts of synthetic that I paid pennies on the dollar for.

I was using the dealer for my new subaru. I checked the oil one day and there was a big spill down the timing chain cover. It may not be a huge financial savings but at least I can do it without lowering the resale value.

Edit: I bought dino for 2 bucks a quart and m1 for 4.50. Yay, costco!

Off to the dealer it goes!

At least in the 1.4 Ecotec, that oil is good for 5-6k miles tops based on UOA's. The OLM says take it to 8-10k miles, though. That interval has so far shown to be okay on full-syn dexos1 oils. Another reason for DIY oil changes for me.

I own a Silverado, the OLM is spot on for my engine.

My 2011 F-150 ecoboost is a PIA to change the oil in, so this is the last one I think I'M DOING MYSELF.

I have the EcoBoost and agree it's a PIA to change the oil yourself. If you lift the frt end the oil from the filter runs along the pan toward the back of the engine. I just leave truck on flat driveway and crawl around underneath...But you're right..it's getting expensive to do it yourself. I use PP 5qt jug plus a single qt from Wallyworld and it's over $30.

I have had the oil tech strip the drain bolt on one of my vehicles....$350 oil pan and the "we didn't do it" denial.
Plus I hate waiting the 90 minutes to get the oil changed when I can do it on my schedule in 20. Loose lug nuts, oil fill caps left off sitting on the engine, wrong tire pressure, wrong tire balancing, leaking trans drain plug, drum brake shoes installed backwards, nicks and scratches in brand new painted wheels, under filled engine oil, not changing the oil filter that I marked with a sharpie.

These are just some of the reasons I do a lot of my own work. If it is an extra $10 now....it is still way cheaper.

no way......thought that one time, turned out they never dumped the old oil before pouring in 6qts of new oil....never again.

I'd like to know how your dealer is offering such a low price.

Can't get your oil changed around here for less then $35-40 w/tax

for me price is not the highest priority, its knowing its done correctly and saving time. even if i set an appointment with acura, i wont be back with my car for another 1-2 hours. And it's always overfilled.

Hahahahaha, this is me.

Most stealerships are not worth the powder to blow them to [censored].

Typically the lowest paid guy there will be doing your oil change.

I agree 100%, especially the ones I worked for over the years. Calling them thieves would be a compliment.

Anyone else gotten fed up with these prices? I'm thinking there is more than one on here.

Are you positive that your dealer uses MC Blend?

Beware of what reads on their big oil drum. Sometimes the contents are not what's written on the outside of that drum.

One more reason why I'm not hung up on a single brand. I can always find a good conventional on sale about the time I'm ready to change the oil. And I suspect I run the conventional further than you run your blend.

why did you buy 6 single quart?? It is expensive.

You can buy 5qt mc for $18.33 at walmart.

Not in 5w30 unfortunately for my F150 ecoboost.

They advertise it quite proudly in their service drive - we are the only place that uses MC synthetic blend in the county for our standard oil change. They don't try to hide it.

This is why my dad won't let me do oil changes on his & mom's cars. He insists on taking them to the ford dealer, even though it seems like nearly every time they "find" something wrong to the tune of between $200-$400. Especially on mom's car, though given it is 13 yrs old, and things are gonna start to go, but still!

and actually they just replaced that car yesterday,(one big repair too many for dad - RF spring broke in the middle shedding nearly 2 rounds) went to same dealer, replaced 99 Taurus(which it somehow became my job to sell), with 09 Taurus limited.
and yes having all the service records from them will help in the selling. but still.

I'm at 8k, so I'm pretty sure anything 'hardware' they find is going to be on their dime though.

Don't get me wrong, I would rather do it myself, but since I haven't had to change it since last September I can't believe how much it has gone up. 4.37/qt. Pennzoil YB is creeping up on 20 for a 5qt.

Why do most places overfill the oil? It is like they think the maximum line is the minimum line. Toyota always overfilled my car. They had a cheap oil change at the time. But, I stopped going after they constantly overfilled the oil. So, I asked the manager about this and he said it did not matter.

Now that is interesting! How about being brave enough to name those "lotta people"?? :-)

I think you meant something else by your statement, it just came out little funny.
