Since the heat of the summer came along, I switched to using 10w30 for our 2007 Prius. It's been great, no mileage loss that I can see, and engine seems to run quieter.

The brand I've been using is Smitty's Super S, regular synthetic blend (blue bottle).

However, two weeks ago I topped it off with 2 quarts of the Smitty's High Mileage (silver bottle). Just checked the dipstick yesterday and it was blacker than ever before. This never was the case with the blue bottle stuff.

Does this mean their HM blend has more cleaning detergents than the syn blend? Just curious....
