I would bet Subaru tests and specifies each of these filter's components. I would trust the filter, be happy, and not worry further.

LOL, I had to use a little nut to be able to do a smaller filter as well.

I also have debated drilling a new hole about 1/2" over, it would still allow me to do my bigger filters, but make smaller filters easier.

Yeah I don't have any qualms using the bcod.

Fram specs the 3593A/7317s for non-turbo Subarus, but the the 9715 for others. I used the Toyota equivalent of the 130 filter on a friend's Forester.
