hey I know I'm late to posting in this thread.. but have you considered a travel alarm clock? Those operate on batteries and it's what I finally decided on after too many power outages. Never looked back at a regular alarm clock..

No need if you have a smartphone. That’s all I use and with my lack of hearing I have the settings set for deaf people that includes the led flash flashing as well as the alarm. Can’t miss that.

oh sure you can use a cell phone, but I didn't care for all the extras.. just sometimes, the basics are perfect..and two AAA batteries last months in the travel alarm clock, plus.. if I toss/turn in the bed and my hand hits the night stand, no worries of a $20 travel clock hitting the floor!

In America maybe, but in Asia Panasonic is still pretty booming as a consumer brand.

Yep and in America they still have business here. If you are diabetic and use Ascencia products then you are using Panasonic. My Contour Next strips come from Japan.
