Remote Start: Jeep vs. Mercedes

Liability reasons for sure, in case of parking lot attendants. If you take control of the vehicle, have a brain fart and hit something it will make a big difference if they handed you a running vehicle or one that's shut off. And you know how there would be an ambulance chaser on it right away....
If you take a remote started car, and step on the brake to release the transmission interlock, and DON'T HAVE THE KEY ON, it will stall because you pressed the brake, and the thing sensed the brake press. You have to insert the key and turn it on, or do whatever key fobs do, before touching that pedal.
 
Right so those can keep the engine running while the door opens. But others?
Others implement brake pedal interlock. The moment you press the brake the engine shuts off.
Even if the thief knew all of this, they will need to apply brakes rather soon after the break in.

Like it was mentioned already, it’s a non issue, just some of you are trying to come up with weird scenarios to justify these poor implementations.
