how hot when it dies?

are you moving or sitting still?

how long before it restarts?

what happens when you turn the key?

does it do this when it's cold?

does it do this if you aren't running the AC?

I think it's temp related - something is expanded and losing connection. Either within a sensor or something soldered down.

That would be my first move.

BMW are way more reliable. Every VW owner has had electrical gremlins past warranty. Audi too by extension.

Mercedes on their lower end offerings are trouble too.

Ironically the Americans are doing it better these days.
