'11 Toyota Corolla, 1,483 miles
OUT: Factory Fill, 0W20 and the OEM Oil Filter
IN: Pennzoil Yellow Bottle, 5W20 and an OEM Filter($3.99)
This was the first oil change. Metal shavings were noticeable but not overwhelming. My suprise was how black the oil was for 1,500 miles. I do understand that color isn't the best indicator of oil sustainability.
I plan to run the PYB for 3,500 miles which would bring me to 5,000 miles on the odometer. At this point, dump and run Pennzoil Ultra, 5W20, for 5,000 miles bringing me to 10,000 miles which just so happens to co-inside with Toyota's Maintenance Care Plan where they perform the oil change with Toyota Synthetic Oil, 0W20 and an OEM Oil Filter. From here I plan to split the 10,000 mile recommended OCI in half, with my own oil change in the middle with a 0W20, probably Mobil 1, 0W20 Advanced Fuel Economy with an OEM Oil Filter. My driving habits flirt with severe habits.
