I ran an oil change of Rotella T6 5w-40 once and it seemed fine, but was a little noisier when hot than Lucas 20W-50 synthetic MC oil. I have gear drive cams and this may be where some of the additional sound comes from with lighter oil. I just had the cam cover opened up after 20,000mi and the gears looked like new.
Primary I have always run plain Rotella Dino oil.
Transmission SuperSyn 85-140 (Shifts really smooth) I change this every second oil change.
